NSS DEPARTMENT
“NOT ME BUT YOU”
The principle of NSS, "Not Me But You," embodies the core values of democratic living and emphasizes the importance of selfless service. It centers around recognizing the needs and challenges faced by the community and actively engaging them in finding solutions. The philosophy of NSS is deeply rooted in this motto, emphasizing the notion that an individual's welfare is intricately linked to the welfare of society as a whole. Consequently, NSS volunteers are dedicated to working towards the betterment of society and its well-being.
ABOUT US
In 1969, the Government of India initiated the National Service Scheme (NSS) to commemorate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation. Administered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India (GoI), NSS is a scheme at the central level. It offers college students, the youth of India, a chance to actively engage in government-led community service activities and programs. The primary objective of NSS is to equip young students with practical experience in contributing to the betterment, equality, and development of society. There are three units of self financed category given to Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College Sri Anandpur Sahib by parent university, Punjabi University Patiala of 100 volunteers in each unit. Three program officers are also appointed by the college to maintain and organise the department.

NSS volunteers strive to ensure that those in need receive assistance to improve their quality of life and live with dignity. Through their interactions with people in rural areas, volunteers learn how to lead fulfilling lives despite limited resources. Additionally, they provide aid during natural and man-made disasters by offering food, clothing, and first aid to the victims.
