Red Cross

The College Principal Dr. Jasvir Singh was honoured by His Excellency the Governor of Punjab Sh. V.P Singh Badnore in a state level function held at Chandigarh on 8 June, 2018 for the immense contribution of the Youth Red Cross Unit of SGTB Khalsa College in serving the society.

On October 19th, 2015 Youth Red Cross Unit was established in our college with the approval of Indian Red Cross Society (Punjab Branch). The unit is committed for the following objectives.
1. To provide medical facilities to the students, teachers and others.
2. To provide financial assistance to the needy students for education.
3. To provide free of cost ambulance facility to the society.
4. To provide health blood bank services.
5. To provide first aid training to the students and teachers.
6. To promote humanitarian values which encourage respect for other human beings.
7. To conduct research on the various societal issues.

Session 2015-16

1. On October 19th, 2015, Youth Red Cross Unit of our college established the Bhai Ghanayia Ji Youth Red Cross Society in the loving memory of Bhai Ghanayia Ji.
2. On 20th and 21st September, 2015, Our Youth Red Cross Unit coordinated the State level competitions organized by Punjab Red Cross Society in our college. On this event, the teams of various schools and colleges belonging to Punjab State participated in the different competitions.
3. On 26th October, 2015 first aid training camp was organized in the college in which 79 Red Cross volunteers got training of first aid.
4. On 28th October 2015, Red Cross fest was organized by Youth Red Cross Unit in which the students of the college organized various stalls of eatables, fun games and handicrafts.It is worth mentioning here that students made a sale of Rs. 80,000 and earned profit of Rs. 20,000 which was donated for the education of needy students. On this day the poster making and slogan writing competitions were also organized in which the students of various schools participated.
5. On 28th October, 2015, the Unit got Ambulance donated by the donors of Sri Amritsar Sahib for providing free of cost ambulance facility to the residents of nearby villages.
6. On February 9, 2016, the Unit organized Declamation Contest, Slogan Writing and Poster Making competitions on the theme of “Drug De-addiction and The Power of Youth in Nation Building” sponsored by Directorate of Youth Welfare, Punjab.
7. From 23rd March to 27th March, 2016 Our Youth Red Cross Unit organized medical camp near village Nikkuwal on the eve of Annual Sikh Fair Holla Mohalla in which free medical and ambulance facility was provided to the pilgrims.

Session 2016-17

1. On 8th May, 2016, Our College got State Award from Indian Red Cross Society for giving immense contribution to the society in the field of Red Cross.
2. On 4th November 2016, the unit organized 2ndComprehensive Youth Development Competitions namely Model making, Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Quiz Competition in collaboration with Directorate of Youth Welfare, Punjab. The aim of the programme was to fill the youth with the sentiment of selfless service and charity. More than 280 students of 70 senior secondary schools of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh were participated in the competitions.
3. From 12th March to 16th March, 2017 Our Youth Red Cross Unit organized medical camp near the village Nikkuwal on the event of Holla Mohalla in which free medical and ambulance facility was provided to the pilgrims.

Session 2017-18

1. On 8th May, 2017, the unit celebrated World Red Cross Day by organizing seminar to encourage the youth for the service to humanity.
2. On 3rd November 2017, the unit organized 3rdComprehensive Youth Development Competitions namely Model making, Poster Making, Slogan Writing,Quiz, Poem Recitation, Elocution, Solo and Group Patriotic SongCompetitions in collaboration with Directorate of Youth Welfare, Punjab. The aim of the programme was to fill the youth with the sentiment of selfless service and charity. More than 400 students of 70 senior secondary schools of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh were participated in the competitions.
3. On 1 December, 2017, the Unit organized seminar on the World AIDS Day in collaboration with Directorate of Youth Welfare Punjab with aim of spreading awareness about AIDS among the students, teachers and non-teaching staff.
4. From 1st March to 5th March, 2018 Our Youth Red Cross Unit organized medical camp near the village Nikkuwal on the event of Holla Mohalla in which free medical and ambulance facility was provided to the pilgrims.
